QUEBEC's ANNUAL DOCUMENTARY FILM MARKET

6th edition of Doc Circuit Montreal  November 10th, 11th and 12th, 2010

Doc Circuit Montreal's 2010 program will be available next fall.

Doc Circuit Montreal is a dynamic commercial platform for the documentary film industry. It was created and organized in 2004 by Montreal’s international documentary festival—the RIDM—and introduced in partnership with DOC Quebec.

Since its creation, Doc Circuit Montreal has positioned itself as the annual flagship event for the documentary industry in Quebec. Each November, it brings together leading practitioners and influential decision-makers for a unique encounter—a bilingual (French- English) North American marketplace for creative documentary.

Running in tandem with the RIDM Festival, Doc Circuit Montreal offers an intensive three-day program of speakers, workshops, discussion and negotiations, designed to stimulate new partnerships and broaden the scope of documentary production, both locally and internationally.

Face-to-Face is one of our key activities, an opportunity for documentary filmmakers to network and pitch to producers, broadcasters, distributors, and private fund representatives from Quebec, Canada and abroad. In 2009, we scheduled some 500 meetings between 40 decision-makers and more than 150 independent filmmakers/producers. At the same time, a parallel program of speakers, workshops, panels and Q&As address issues specific to the industry, encouraging participants to share ideas and update their skills and knowledge to nurture an increasingly vibrant documentary community.

Mission

The mission of Doc Circuit Montreal is to

  • Support the production, the promotion and the distribution of documentary films;

  • Encourage business partnerships.

  • Participate to the training of independent filmmakers and producers to increase their competitiveness in international markets.
