Aim for the Roses John Bolton

Film index A to Z

In 1976, stuntman Ken Carter decided to jump the St. Lawrence River in a race car powered by a rocket. Three decades later, musician Mark Haney paid tribute to Carter with a trippy, conceptual album for double bass. Aim for the Roses is the offbeat story of these two surprising and radical endeavours. Part biographical investigation, part musical comedy and part eccentric reconstruction of Carter’s exploits, John Bolton’s film is a wild and colourful ballad enhanced with interviews, archival footage and animated passages. A funny, bittersweet, poetic story about the fine line between heroes and zeroes, between greatness and absurdity. The stunt of the century and an uncommon approach make for a unique film.
