Defining Your Identity: An Audio-Photographic Exhibition

Activities and Events

How do you build an identity in a society that keeps judging you for your past? That is the question asked by the Art Entr’Elles collective, comprising female ex-convicts undergoing reintegration and professional artists. Together with the arts organization Projet Ose, they are presenting a group work consisting of 11 audio-photo self-portraits. Each work expresses a feeling experienced by the artists at a particularly transformative moment in their lives. The image, voice, expressions and words of the creators invite the viewer to read their identities differently, eschewing appearances and stereotypes. The project was co-produced by photographer Sandra Lachance and writer Sarah Lalonde.
