Cuban Hat Pitch

Cuban Hat Pitch

The Cuban Hat Pitch is back
at DCM for a 6th year in a row!

With cash prizes and services to be won, the cabaret-style pitch is one of DCM’s most popular events.

The call for projects will be announced soon, followed by a public online vote and our Jury vote. Five projects will be selected to be pitched live during DCM’s 12th edition. Sign up for our newsletter and we will notify you when the call for projects is announced.

Doc Circuit Montréal invites all Canadian directors and new media creators to submit their documentary projects: feature, mid-length, one-off, series, VR or interactive. Projects can be of any format and in any stage of development, production or post-production. Audacious propositions, diverse perspectives, new technologies, and creative forms are encouraged!

Two more fabulous prizes have been added to the hat!  All eligible submissions to the Cuban Hat Pitch will also be considered for participation to the Docunexion Quebec-Mexico and Docunexion Quebec-France initiatives. See all details on cubanhat.tv.

ELIGIBILITY
  • Open to all Canadian filmmakers and new media creators;
  • Open to all documentary or non-fiction hybrids. Fiction films are not eligible;
  • Open to all topics, stages of production, genres, lengths, formats, and mediums.

Note: Filmmakers not living in Montréal are encouraged to apply but travel costs will not be covered.

Each selected project will also be awarded one full Market Accreditation, granting access to Doc Circuit Montréal’s three days of meetings, workshops and conferences, from November 14th to 16th 2016.

The goal of this initiative is to generate collaborative supportpromising documentary projects, and to connect documentary creators with members of the industry and, ultimately, their audience. All five pitchers will receive the prizes collected in the Cuban Hat!
